Outrage over dog deaths: A Canadian government task force is investigating Whistler Outdoor Adventures, operator of this kennel near the British Columbia resort, after it shot and killed up to 100 healthy sled dogs. The dogs were reportedly put to death because of falling bookings after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

I think this is a very cool idea! It's better than having nice houses sitting empty and rotting.

100 dogs in Canada killed after business slows
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - The 100 dogs were shot dead over two days after an expected post-Olympics boom in dogsledding business at an adventure company didn't pan out. Most died instantly, but others suffered — like the one that ran away with its "face blown off and an eye hanging out."
The gruesome event was described in documents awarding compensation to a worker, who claimed he suffered post-traumatic stress disorder from shooting the dogs after bookings dropped sharply for a tour operator following the 2010 Winter Olympics.
"He had to chase her down and finish her off," Marcie Moriarty, general manager of cruelty investigations for the B.C. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said of the wounded dog that was run down and slain.

Last night Steve and I watched the DVD Red (2010) with Bruce Willis. It was entertaining. Not great, but entertaining. I gave it three out of five stars. I haven’t returned it yet. I’m thinking of watching it again for the lines I missed.
Steve and I watched Inception (2010) with Leonardo DiCaprio. I was not impressed. I gave it two out of five stars.

I see in the news that the remains of Kristi Cornwell have been found. This is sad news. The first update of the year for my lost file. I had hoped for a miracle that she would be found safe.
Snow!! I woke up to a white world this morning. I think I have about 8 inches and it's still falling. The weather people are saying the snow will continue to fall until 6 PM this evening. If it does, I think this will be the first time I have seen snow fall for an entire day -- from sunrise to sunset.
I know the stores are hating this snow. I'm glad I don't need to go anywhere today. I have been enjoying watching the birds at the feeder. But birds sure can be mean!! They fight over the seeds and chase each other away.
